We can’t reuse a device that is still locked to your account. If you don’t sign out of Apple (iCloud) or Google first, the device stays locked and we have to recycle it instead of giving it a second life.
Android phones and tablets
Newer Android devices use Factory Reset Protection. Remove your Google account before you reset.
- Open Settings.
- Find Accounts (or Accounts and backup, or Passwords and accounts).
- Tap your Google account, then Remove account. Repeat for any other Google accounts.
- Go to Settings, then System (or General management), then Reset.
- Choose Erase all data (factory reset).
iPhones and iPads
Turn off Find My and remove the device from your Apple account. If you get stuck, follow Apple’s guide to removing Activation Lock, or call us and we’ll help.
Windows PCs and laptops
Usually nothing is needed on your part. We securely erase or destroy your data. If your employer issued the device, it may be registered as their property, so please share your employer’s name and contact details with us.
